Carpal Tunnel Release Denver
What is Carpal Tunnel Release?
Carpal tunnel release is a surgical procedure that relieves symptoms that are caused by carpal tunnel syndrome. These symptoms are caused by a compression of the median nerve in the wrist. Symptoms that may be experienced are numbness in the hand and fingers, pain, tingling and/or weakness.
If you are suffering from these symptoms, you may be a candidate for carpal tunnel release. Carpal tunnel release is typically performed on an outpatient basis with the surgery lasting about 30 minutes. Dr. Tirre utilizes an open technique which means that a small incision is made at the base of the palm and direct decompression of the median nerve is performed. You will need someone to drive you home after surgery due to the anesthesia. Dr. Tirre may limit your wrist movement initially, and most patients return to normal activities rather quickly. Dr. Tirre will establish a personalized plan for your recovery at the time of your consultation and may include hand therapy.
