Are you noticing moderate to severe lines and wrinkles forming in your skin? Also known as rhytids, these skin folds are a common part of the aging process. They are caused by the natural gradual decline in the skin’s collagen and elastin supplies.
Wrinkles can be tackled with the help of a non-surgical dermal filler called Juvederm. Having received FDA approval in 2006, Juvederm has moved on to become the number-one hyaluronic-acid filler in the U.S.
Juvederm and Hyaluronic Acid
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based filler that comes in the form of a smooth transparent gel. As aging occurs, the skin loses its hyaluronic acid, causing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that helps in delivering nutrients to the skin so that it retains its softness and moisture. It adds volume to the skin as well.
Because Juvederm is composed of hyaluronic acid, Juvederm injections restore the skin’s supply of it, which in turn helps reduce wrinkles.
Juvederm XC and Juvederm Vollure XC
Juvederm offers a number of different fillers, including Juvederm XC and Juvederm Vollure XC. The right filler for you will be chosen based on the area and degree of correction it is being used for.
Both of these fillers are used to help in getting rid of static wrinkles like the nasolabial folds and parentheses lines around the nose and mouth. Static wrinkles appear on your face when it is at rest. They occur as a result of many factors, including the natural loss of hyaluronic acid and collagen, which give the skin its structure.
Juvederm XC is used to smooth away moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth, with proven effects lasting up to one year in most cases.
Juvederm Vollure XC, the newest addition to the Juvederm line, addresses the same issues, but its results last up to 18 months in most cases. It was launched in the U.S. in April 2017 and is used in adults over age 21.
Vollure uses VYCROSS technology, which makes the filler smoother and more efficient than other options. Due to the VYCROSS technology, the filler also ensures a lower chance of patients experiencing pain or swelling as a result of treatment.
The Treatment Procedure
The procedure to inject Juvederm lasts between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated. The procedure can be carried out on the same day as the consultation. The filler is injected into the facial tissue in key areas to smooth out the wrinkles. Juvéderm products contain lidocaine, which helps in minimizing any pain or discomfort during the treatment process.
In most cases, the patients return to their daily schedule right after the treatment. No downtime will be needed, making the treatment quite convenient. Tenderness in the skin afterwards can be effectively taken care of by applying an ice pack to the skin.
